Our past, present, and future...

September 8, 1922, The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County opened for business on Winston Street in downtown Reynolds, Georgia. The Bank became FDIC insured January 1, 1934.

Mr. C. H. Neisler opened the bank in 1922. Mr. R. C. Brooks and Mr. William Henry VanLandingham purchased the bank in Reynolds, and the bank in Butler both operating as Citizens State Bank in 1955. In 1959 Mr. VanLandingham purchased the Reynolds location from Mr. Brooks. After Mr. VanLandingham’s death in 1979, his widow Mrs. Mary Lou VanLandingham took control of the bank and became President/CEO in 1980.

In April 1972 the bank moved to a new building located on Winston Street just a block north of the original location. The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County continues to operate from this location.

The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County expanded its presence in 2013, with the purchase of the former CertusBank branch office in Roberta, Crawford County, Georgia. The office is a branch of The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County, under the name of The Citizens State Bank of Crawford County.

The Citizens State Bank of Taylor County operates as an affiliate bank of a Bank Holding Company, Georgia Community Bancorp, Inc., which has offices in Dawson, Georgia. There are two additional affiliate banks in the Holding Company, Bank of Terrell in Dawson, Georgia and Commercial State Bank in Donalsonville, Georgia.
